Save time & money shopping for a gas pressure washer by checking out my #1 top gas pressure washer recommendation: the Generac 6596 washer with 2,800 PSI, 2.5 GPM and quality axial cam pump.
Let's start with my quick review - and my full detailed review is further down this page:
When I compare Generac's 2,800 PSI power, 2.5 GPM, its OHV engine & axial cam pump, price and warranty, with other models, the Generac 6596 is my #1 top gas pressure washer pick.
With it's powerful Generac 196 cc OHV gas engine, you get a whopping 2,800 PSI with 2.5 GPM - which is a powerful amount of cleaning power! You'll be able to clean much faster than if you were using an electric unit. And I want to say that I really like the high quality Generac axial cam pump. It's built to last over the long haul.
For such a powerhouse of a washer, this Generac weighs a relatively lightweight 65.5 lbs. But what makes it very unique is that it has a specially designed frame that perfectly balances the engine & pump over the axle, for lighter handling. This Generac washer really moves easily & effortlessly!
And the spray gun is molded so it's comfortable in your hand - even if you're using it for a long time. And I really, really like the oversized Never-Flat tires. Goodbye to irritating flat tires while you're working.
I strongly recommend the Generac 6596 and you can check its price & see other reviews on Amazon
Gas Engine: The 196CC OHV gas engine on this Generac 6596 on Amazon is very well known for its reliability and long life. (An OHV engine means that the engine valves sit on top of the engine, which is a huge improvement over the older style flathead engines where the valves were positioned next to the piston.) This gas engine has a horizontal orientation & an easy manual (pull) start. And a manual choke. Yes, this is a high quality engine on this Generac power washer. You should use SAE 30 or 10W30 engine oil.
Pump: The axial cam pump on
this unit is an excellent pump choice for homeowners!
This axial cam pump is superior to the wobble pump that's commonly seen on
the many incredibly cheap pressure washers on the market. I always advise
readers to invest in an axial cam pump because it's your best value over the
long run. This pump can produce up to a whopping 2,800 PSI - which is more than
enough power to tackle any outdoor cleaning tasks you might have around
your house, yard, garage, etc.
PSI (Pounds per Square Inch): 2,800 max
GPM (Gallons per Minute): 2.5
Frame Construction: the frame is quality welded steel that will resist rust. And the handle is fixed, after you click it into the frame.
Nozzles: you get the standard 4 Quick Connect spray nozzle tips: 0 degree, 25 degree, 40 degree and a black soaper nozzle
Wheels: it has two 10" diameter "never flat" wheels. These never flat wheels are made of solid urethane and they’re such an improvement over the usual pneumatic wheels. Just think: no annoying flat tires! And it’s larger 10" diameter wheels makes it easier to roll this power washer on rough or uneven terrain.
High Pressure Hose: it comes with a 25ft high pressure PVC hose with the industry standard M22 threaded connectors.
Easy to Move? The out-of-the-box weight for this Generac power washer is 61.5 lbs, but since they've designed it so that the engine & pump are perfectly balanced over the axle, it moves lightly and effortlessly. Yes, I promise, it’s easy to move! You can see this Generac washer on Amazon.com.
Dimensions: it measures 23" length, 16" width (wheel to wheel) and 40 1/4" height out-of-the-box.
Spray Gun: I like that this Generac power washer has a molded, ergonomic grip on its spray gun. The gun feels good in your hand and the molded grip really makes it easier on your hands when you're tackling long cleaning jobs.
Chemical Tank: it has a generous sized 3/4 gallon chemical tank for detergents & soaps.
Warranty: There is a 2 Year Limited Warranty for consumer/household use. Basically, Generac gives you one year coverage for labor & parts for all components - and a year two limited comprehensive coverage on major engine components including the block, head, crank, cam, rods & pistons. My opinion is that this is an excellent warranty for homeowners.
What I liked least about this Generac power washer: It wasn't a problem for me, but I should point out that if you're planning to do really large scale cleaning projects like swimming pools or larger buildings, the included 25ft high pressure hose probably won't be your best choice. You'll probably want to buy a 50ft hose, for those types of specialty jobs. It will probably only cost you around $40. But, for most consumers and homeowners, the standard 25ft hose is just right. You can see Amazon.com's great price on the Generac 6596.
What I liked most about this model: I really like the fact that you can get incredible cleaning power but it's still so easy to move the Generac around because of the special placement of the engine & pump over the frame axle. You don't have to break your back, anymore, to move a powerful gas pressure washer wherever you need it. You can read more reviews & check Amazon.com's great price.
