If you’re trying to decide between pressure washers electric vs gas, you’ve come to the right place. I’ll share my pro experience to help you decide which type is best for you – and your budget. And I’ll give you my independent review of some of the best models on the market.

And you can see my top recommended gas pressure washer for homeowners: the Generac 6596 on Amazon.

Checklist for Pressure Washers Electric vs Gas

Here’s my handy checklist of questions to help you decide between pressure washers electric vs gas:

·        What types/size of cleaning projects will you tackle around your home?

·        What’s your budget?

·        How much pressure washer weight can you safely lift/maneuver?

·        Are you concerned about noise? Are you concerned about fumes?

If you want to clean small to medium sized projects, would like to spend less than $200, are not comfortable lifting more than 50lbs, or want to eliminate/lessen fumes or noise, then an electric pressure washer is your best choice.

You can see my  #1 top electric pressure washer recommendation: the AR Blue Clean 383 available on Amazon.  It has 1,900 PSI power, 1.5 GPM, a better quality pump, built-in hose reel and it's only 27 lbs! You can see Amazon's price on the AR Blue Clean AR383.

Electric pressure washers are economical, powerful and popular. They’re designed to quickly clean porches, walkways, driveways, RV’s, cars, patios, etc. And most electric pressure washer weigh 30lbs, or less, to they’re easy to take wherever you need to clean. Even up steps or inclines! Also, they’re much quieter, versus a gas pressure washer, and they don’t email any fumes or carbon monoxide. And you can use electric models indoors, like in a garage, shed, workroom, etc.

But, if you need to do medium to heavy-duty cleaning jobs, can spend more than $250, can lift/move more weight and louder running noise or fumes doesn’t bother you, you’ll want to invest in a gas pressure washer.

Gas washers are built with heavier pumps, bearing and stronger gas powered engines. So they have higher PSI (Pounds per Square) ratings versus electric units. This monster PSI cleaning power will let you quickly clean large decks, patio, driveways, parking lots, tennis courts, swimming pools, etc. And you’ll really be able to remove seriously stubborn stains like mold, mildew, grease, etc.

You'll want to read about my top gas pressure washer recommendation: the Generac 6596 on Amazon. It has power, quality, speed & a competitive price. With it's 196cc Generac gas engine, whopping 2,800 PSI, 2.5 GPM and strong axial cam pump, it's my best gas pressure washer pick. Your can read more reviews & check Amazon's price on the Generac 6596.

As you can probably imagine gas pressure washers are designed to last much longer than electric models. But their quality construction makes them heavier. Before you purchase one, check the weight specs, and make sure you can comfortable move the washer wherever you need to clean.

Gas pressure washers are always chosen by pros for their power, durability & reliability. But remember, there’s a trade-off in terms of noise, fumes & maintenance. Gas units usually produce noise levels of 85 to 100 decibels. That’s about the noise level of a riding lawn tractor. And since their engines give off carbon monoxide, they can only be used outdoors. And, of course, you’ll need to do periodic oil, gas and pump maintenance.

Industry Standard Ratings for Electric vs Gas Models

Don’t forget that there are two standard industry ratings you can use to help you accurately compare pressure washer electric vs gas, so you’ll get the best value for your money:

PSI (Pounds per Square Inch) means the amount of pressure that the pressure washer pump can achieve. The higher the PSI rating, the faster & deeper the cleaning will be.

GPM (Gallons per Minute) tells you how fast the water flows through the pressure washer – and out of the spray nozzle. Models with a higher GPM rating means that it’s more efficient & powerful.

Now you know the differences between pressure washers electric vs gas and you’ll be able to make the best choice.
